Actress and fashion icon Sarah Jessica Parker continues Carrie Bradshaw's love affair with Vogue in her upcoming guest spot on 'Glee.' Apparently the diminutive star will be bringing her bubbly self to a role as editor of Vogue.com, and we're sure the musical TV show will bring out all of her quirky side. That isn't all she's got on her plate, however. The "Sex and the City" star is also heading to the big screen, playing politics, and as expected, having fun with fashion.
Most viewers know Parker best from her role in "SATC," but her soon-to-be "Glee" costar Chris Colfer is apparently a fanboy for another reason. "I am a huge fan," he says of the HBO series about single life in the big city, "but I am more excited that the hot witch from "Hocus Pocus" is coming on the show. That movie, I worshiped." We're guessing Chris will be upset that the rumors about a sequel, to that cult 1993 film about three witches, turned out to be untrue.
Word is that the former witch's character on the "Glee" guest spot will be "frazzled, eccentric, hilarious." We know fashion-love Kurt (Colfer) is going to be excited to meet anyone from Vogue, and perhaps the two might share a song? As Jane Lynch, who plays Coach Sue Sylvester, recently joked: "Parker was on Broadway as a kid in Annie, so [she's] got some chops!"
SJP recently jumped feet first into a more serious role, that of iconic feminist Gloria Steinem in the upcoming film "Lovelace." The actress took over the part when Demi Moore pulled out for health reasons, and said if she'd had more time to think about it, "I probably would have said no, because it was a daunting experience for lots of obvious and less obvious reasons." The movie stars Amanda Seyfried as Linda Lovelace, porn actress turned feminist activist, and should hit screens later this year or early 2013.
Also in the pipe for Parker is the ensemble comedy "Married and Cheating." She joins Brendan Fraser on the movie that will intertwine the stories of three couples, whose only common denominator is infidelity. "Desperate Housewives" star Eva Longoria and Kiefer Sutherland ("24") were recently in talks to appear, and filming should start soon.
The busy actress is also working hard for President Obama's re-election, recently hosting a $40,000/plate fundraiser dinner for the cause. Guests included Meryl Streep, Olivia Wilde, Aretha Franklin, and not surprisingly, Anna Wintour. At the dinner Parker also gushed over "extraordinary" Michelle Obama, telling her and the assembled crowd, "I very much look forward to the things you're going to accomplish in the next four years."
"Sex and the City" wasn't the beginning or the end of a love of fashion for Parker, and you can still find her in places like the latest Louis Vuitton runway show. Though rumors of a fashion line partnership with Victoria Beckham turned out to be false, the lady who made the ballerina tutu dress iconic is still hoping to do something with designing. "I'm definitely curious about pursuing it," she said to WWD, "and we'll see. I'm sort of figuring that out right now."
