Sarah Bolger Supports Natalie Dormer’s Call for More ‘Game of Thrones’ Male Nudity

Game of Thrones stars Natalie Dormer, Carice van Houten, and even Kit Harington -- though, just not from him -- have advocated for more male nudity, citing the major lack in equality when it comes to disrobing on the HBO series.

And that call doesn’t just come from the show’s stars. Anna Kendrick recently tweeted her demand for more male full-frontal while actress Sarah Bolger offered her support to Dormer, her former Tudors co-star, who plays the oft-naked Margaery Tyrell on Game of Thrones

“There’s some sort of taboo about male nudity and I don’t see a problem with it,” Bolger tells ETonline while promoting the Tribeca Film Festival debut of her new thriller Emelie. “If there’s no issue with women having their breasts out there then I don’t understand why there couldn’t be with men.”

“If nudity’s right in the moment, it should be right for whoever is involved -- not just the female character,” she adds.

Showtime

While Bolger hasn’t worked with Dormer since the Showtime series about King Henry VIII ended in 2011, she does want to compare rib cages. Between Tudors and ABC’s Once Upon a Time, in which she portrayed Princess Aurora, the 24-year-old actress has spent her formative years in corsets and body-squeezing fashions.

“I have the worst ribs in the world because of those corsets,” Bolger says of her body. “My ribs are malleable -- they bend in with the corset because I’ve been doing it for so long. I’m sure Natalie is the same. I’d love to see her now and be like, ‘Can I feel your ribs?’ ”

Luckily, Bolger’s character in Emelie doesn’t require such fashion. As the twistedly deceitful babysitter entrusted to watch a couple’s two kids, the actress plays what she describes as “literally” every parent’s worst nightmare clad in jeans and a sweater. And trust us when we say it’s a far cry from the innocent princesses Aurora and Mary she played on TV.

Emelie premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival and has select screenings on April 24 and 26.
