Rihanna recently canceled a performance Sunday night at Boston's TD Garden according to a statement released March 10. The "We Found Love" singer blamed a bout of laryngitis for her absence, apparently feeling the sting of disappointing excited fans. Hiccups like this are the nature of the business - no matter how creative an artist's reasons are for ditching their shows. In any event, if you had tickets for any of these concerts, you'd better find something else to fill your social calendar.
A sore throat may have kept RihRih from rocking out in Boston. But in early March, Lil Wayne shut down his entire European tour. Scheduling conflicts are evidently to blame, with the March 26 release of his new album, "I Am Not a Human Being II" causing him to pinch his tour overseas. Claiming that he didn't want either one to be rushed, the "Lollipop" rapper chose to dedicate himself to finessing his upcoming record.
A collective groan of agony was heard worldwide when No Doubt declared that they'd offer no concert dates in the immediate future. Like the "How to Love" singer, the band is forgoing live action in order to dole out their next great work. While touring last year, front woman Gwen Stefani's creative juices apparently began to churn. The other band members followed suit and they decided to swap the stage for the studio.
Justin BieberIf Justin Bieber's not vomiting on stage, he's passing out completely. While performing in London on March 7, he added a fainting spell to his collection of public mishaps. The "Boyfriend" singer fell short of breath and was provided oxygen backstage. Following a quick jaunt to the hospital, Justin canceled another show scheduled the following Tuesday. Maybe illness is the culprit behind the Bieb's recent grumpy disposition.
Perhaps the baby-faced crooner shouldn't feel too bad. Coldplay announced early last month that they were scrapping their entire South American tour. The band (headed by Gwyneth Paltrow's hubby Chris Martin) was pretty fuzzy on the reason why they pulled out of their Latin American stretch. "Circumstances beyond their control" will have to suffice as a reasonable explanation for now. But at least we've been guaranteed that their next album will be easy to pronounce.
Lady GagaLady Gaga probably wishes she had a better reason for nixing the remainder of her "Born This Way Ball" tour in mid-February. It seems as if the controversial pop queen's fancy antics earned her a serious hip injury. The avant-garde fashionista suffered from inflamed joints due to her high-impact/high-energy routines. Gaga will need her "Poker Face" now more than ever; doctors prescribed surgery and serious down time in order to get back to normal.
