Brooklyn Decker was ready for a fashion showdown at the "Battleship" movie premiere but her costar Rihanna kept it simple for once. The premiere was held in London, at a naval shipyard, which the "Good Girl Gone Bad" songstress perhaps tried to match with a form-fitting, olive colored dress.
During the press junket, which included costar Taylor Kitsch, Decker and film director Peter Berg, Rihanna debunked rumors about dating Ashton Kutcher. She'd been spotted by paparazzi the previous week arriving at his house at midnight.
Rihanna's Alexander Wang, halter neck, satin and jersey dress, paired with classic black Louboutin stilettos, was quite a departure for a performer defined by her wild fashion statements. The night before, the blonde pop star seemed more herself as she was photographed riding the subway to get to a Drake concert and then leaving London's Club Low after partying with Drake. She was clad in a flame print T-shirt by Maison Martin Margiela (worn as a mini-dress) and leather, thigh-high boots.
While Rihanna was busy riding tubes and partying, Decker tweeted a picture of herself at the candy section of Harrods department store. She struck a silly pose with two lollipops covering her eyes and looked chic in a tasseled, black, leather jacket, skinny jeans and carrying a coveted, royal blue Celine bag.
Decker's Dress All the Rage
Conversely, Decker's Stella McCartney, spring 2012 collection, dress for the premiere was a definite walk on the runway wild side. Black and white embroidered piping, mesh cutouts down the left side and diamond patterns made the dress seem busy, but the Sports Illustrated cover girl wore it well. Like Rihanna, she also completed her outfit with a pair of black, Louboutin stilettos, but with crisscrossing straps. Also, the model's messy ponytail and minimal makeup offset her leg-baring look.
The highly publicized Stella McCartney dress has made its celebrity rounds. A different rendering (without the mesh cutouts) was seen on Gwyneth Paltrow at a Coach event in Beijing. Nicole Kidman worked the red carpet at the 2011 BMI Country Music Awards in a red, floor-length version of the blue mini Paltrow wore. The exact one Decker showed off was worn by a pregnant Sienna Miller on the April cover of British Vogue. The $4000, stretch, cotton and mesh dress is obviously a favorite of many celebrity stylists.
Private and Public Looks
Decker is no stranger to England, having supported her husband, tennis ace Andy Roddick, in Wimbledon last year. The 24-year-old was photographed around the UK in casual suit jackets, R-shirts and slacks or jeans. Although she has graced countless magazine spreads in skimpy bathing suits and lingerie (like her wet and wild pictorial in British GQ), outside of her work, she has quite a conservative taste in clothes.
Usually, it's Rihanna stealing other celebrities' red carpet thunder with her chameleon hair colors, cutout clothing, sheer dresses or bondage attire but Decker is the round one winner. The next Rihanna vs. Decker fashion face-off will be at the "Battleship" world premiere in Japan and then Australia.
