Prince Charles Gave Prince George Possibly The Best Present Ever For His Second Birthday

We expected George to get some pretty epic presents for his second birthday last week (he is a prince, after all), but we have to admit that we’re big fans of Prince Charles’ gift for his grandson.

The Prince of Wales probably made all of George’s dreams come true by turning part of his garden at his private house, Highgrove House, into a playground fit for a toddler-shaped prince.

The heir to the throne even had a tree house once made for his own sons, Wills and Harry, updated for George (and Charlotte, eventually) to play in.

But it gets better. Charles also had a £20,000 hand-made artisan shepherd’s hut, including a bed and wood burner, built in his beloved wildflower meadow for his grandson to enjoy.

The Queen’s eldest son was gifted it by Richard Lee of Dorset company Plankbridge on George’s first birthday and has refurbished it for the blonde-haired tot to enjoy.

Definitely beats the playhouses that most two year olds own the keys to.

Prince Charles recently planted a tree with George in the Highgrove gardens and despite claims in March that he doesn’t spend enough time with his grandson, seems to be making every effort to make sure both of Kate and Wills’ children will spend plenty of their childhood at his Gloucestershire home.

The little prince celebrated his second birthday on July 22 at his parent’s home in Norfolk with around a dozen friends and a surprise appearance from his great-grandfather, Prince Philip.

Prince William managed to wangle a day off from his new job as an air ambulance pilot and was able to help the Duchess of Cambridge make sure the celebrations went smoothly – well as smoothly as a party with 12+ toddlers can go – and Kate’s mum Carole was also said to be at the event.

A gorgeous photo of George, taken by high-profile photographer Mario Testino at Princess Charlotte’s christening, was also released to mark the special occasion and the bells were rung at Westminster Abbey to wish the little prince well.
