After a brief hiatus, Oprah Winfrey's "Favorite Things" special is making a comeback, and this year's gifty giveaways are as over-the-top as ever.
While she's not giving out cars or trips to Australia like she did back in her "Oprah Winfrey Show" days, the OWN head honcho is spreading a little holiday cheer to some lucky military families, with a gift list that includes everything from $45 votive candles to a $5000 home theater system. Oprah's also doling out promo codes to home viewers, so everyone can buy some of this stuff at a discount.
You can see the complete list of Oprah's favorite things for 2012 here, or you can wait for her two-hour special, set to air later this month on OWN.
Vanity Fair has already panned part of the list, dubbing items like the Kardashians' $450 remote-controlled pedestal fan (Oprah "fell in love with it at first breeze" when she interviewed the family earlier this year), and a bottle of $275 sipping tequila as "fabulously obscure and realistically unnecessary."
"What do you get for the dog that reads Architectural Digest?" Oprah asks. Why, this $88 recycled-steel canister and stoneware bowl in a traditional toile pattern, of course!
And nothing comes in handier on a Yosemite camping trip with Gayle King than a Moscow Mule Kit. This $145 kit includes a bottle of vodka, four beers, four mugs, syrup, and serving tray. Oh, and Oprah's own personal recipe.
In fact, there are quite a few alcohol-related items on this list, including that pricey tequila and a $25 wine-chilling gadget.
And forget red velvet -- that's so 2011! This year, Oprah's giving out a blue velvet cake and these words of wisdom: "Just add coffee, milk, or a flute of Champagne."
There's also a set of $238 Lafco Soaps (Oprah says it's her "go-to" gift; just ask Stephen Colbert), Tom Ford lipsticks (a set of four for $192), Coach puffer jackets, a pink Tory Burch tote, an $1800 Jetson E-bike, 600 thread-count bed sheets, a marine spa gift set (Oprah first discovered this at David Copperfield's house, so it must be magical) and a whole lot of truffle (as in oil, butter, bread sticks, sausage, risotto, and goat cheese!) Oprah dubbed the truffle cheese "the best combo since Diana Ross & the Supremes."
We'll take your word for it, O!
"Oprah's Favorite Things: 2012" airs Sunday, November 18 at 8PM ET on OWN.
