Zayn Malik, 19, sported a tattoo of a life-sized microphone on his forearm with the cord wrapped around his wrist in Los Angeles during One Direction‘s performance at the Gibson Amphitheatre on June 16.
Zayn’s bandmates didn’t exactly show their support on stage.
The One Direction boys poked fun at Zayn for his new body art, taking their real microphones and placing it on their forearms just like his tattoo during the show.
However, Zayn’s no stranger to tattoos. The teen heartthrob has his grandfather’s name written in Arabic on his chest, a silver fern (the national symbol of New Zealand), the Japanese symbol for “born lucky” on his hip, the yin and yang symbol on his wrist, and writing on his collarbone that he tweeted means “be true to who you are.”
Zayn may be the front runner in the tattoo department, but Harry Styles could be in the running for the One Direction bad boy award. Harry reportedly got some new ink as well: the Temper Trap lyrics “won’t stop ’till we surrender” tattooed near a star on his arm.
What do YOU think, Hollywoodlifers? Are tattoos the wrong look for these teen heartthrobs? Is Zayn leading the boys down the wrong path?Written by Yasamin Azarakhsh
