When both Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj were signed up to be judges on "American Idol," it wasn't long before rumors flew around about a feud between the pair. Initially, the reports were dismissed, but it seems as though a real fight has already taken place. At an audition in North Carolina, Carey and Minaj didn't see eye to eye over an audition, leading to the "Super Bass" singer allegedly saying, "I'm gonna knock you out!" This isn't the first celebrity judge feud to take place. Here are three other famous judge battles that have happened over the years.
During "The Voice" this year, Christina Aguilera seemed to take quite a dislike to contestant, Tony Lucca. Seemingly tired of Aguilera's mean comments, Adam Levine chose "99 Problems" by Jay-Z as one of Tony's performance songs. A source said the song was "aimed at her (Christina)" and even though the lyrics were changed to avoid swearing, the "Beautiful" singer was highly offended, leading to her and the Maroon 5 star to engage in a scathing war of words on live television.
Hot-headed pro dancer, Maksim Chmerkovskiy, lost his temper in the 2011 season of "Dancing With The Stars," when judge Len Goodman offered a poor critique of his dance with Hope Solo. Goodman called their rumba the worst dance of the season, and explained that he's "been in the business for 50 years." That should surely be enough for his critique to carry some weight, right? Not according to Maksim. He snapped back, "Then maybe it's time to go!" The dancer later claimed he respected Len's opinion. Either way, that moment of TV gold is one that's hard to forget!
When Simon Cowell created "The X Factor," he promised to launch British singer Cheryl Cole to superstardom. Well, he certainly did that, but not quite in the way she was expecting. After just one episode of the talent show, Cowell fired her, saying he thought she felt uncomfortable on the judging panel. He then brought in Nicole Scherzinger as her replacement, further rubbing the salt in Cole's wounds. Cheryl got the last laugh, though. As it turned out, fans of the show preferred her as a judge, but by the time the show aired, it was too late to get her back.
