Though Nick Jonas, Justin Bieber and Scotty McCreery may be teen idols, they still like to blow off steam with a little ball game. Earlier this week Nick Jonas stopped by Wrigley Field in Chicago, Illinois, and took in some batting practice with the Cubs.1
Cubbies Ryan Dempster, James Russell, Randy Wells and Reed Johnson joined the 18-year-old singer from the Jonas Brothers, who managed to hit the left-field wall with a few balls. Nick also got some tips from the Cubs' hitting coach Rudy Jaramillo.
Nick is an avid softball player and hopes to apply what he learned at Wrigley Field when he plays in the 2011 Taco Bell All-Star Legends & Celebrity Softball Game on July 10. The annual event brings MLB superstars together with big names in the entertainment world during the All-Star week festivities.
Jonas will be joined on the field by fellow Disney teen star Jake T. Austin from "Wizards of Waverly Place." Also playing in the game are country singer Jason Aldean, former "American Idol" winner Jordin Sparks, Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model Kate Upton, "Glee's" Chord Overstreet, "Parks and Recreation's" Chris Pratt, "The Marriage Ref" Tom Pap and more.
They will be teamed up with past and present baseball legends including Fred Lynn, Steve Garvey, Larry Fitzgerald, Luis Gonzalez, Mark Grace, Rickey Henderson, Ozzie Smith and Ernie Banks.2
Scotty McCreery Plays Softball To Strike Out Cancer
But Nick is not the the only teen star taking some time to play ball. Recent "American Idol" winner Scotty McCreery and his runner-up Lauren Alaina took part in the City of Hope Celebrity Softball Game to help strike out cancer. The 21st annual competition featured the "Idols" alongside country superstars Vince Gill, David Nail, Dierks Bentley, Chuck Wicks and others. They raised $100,000 for the charity and had a grand ole time Opry-style.
Justin Bieber Challenges Adam Levine to a Basketball Rematch
For Justin Bieber a game of hoops is more his speed. On Tuesday night he was tweeting with Adam Levine, Maroon 5 frontman and coach on the hit summer series "The Voice." Apparently the pair had played a nighttime game of basketball while they were both in Australia, and it got a little ugly. Let's just say that Levine told Jimmy Kimmel that hurling balls and shoving were involved. But it was all in good fun and the unlikely duo have been challenging each other to another game via Twitter.
Adam started off the exchange by tweeting, "When are we getting back on the basketball court?" The Beibs replied, "Get your practice in... my jumper is ready."
