Miley Cyrus On Robin Thicke VMAs Performance: ‘I Can’t Believe That Was A Big Deal’

Two years ago we all watched in a stunned silence with our jaws on the ground as a then-20-year-old Miley Cyrus gyrated on a then-36-year-old Robin Thicke as she stuck her tongue out and rubbed a giant foam finger onto her nether regions at the MTV VMAs.

And now, in modern-day 2015, the former Disney star is gearing up to host the same awards show, and has come forward to say that she could not understand the drama that came off the back of her 2013 performance.

IT WAS CREEPY AND WEIRDLY UNSETTLING, MILEY, WE ARE SO SORRY.

Speaking to the New York Times newspaper, the controversial babe of a star shared: “When you look at it now, it looks like I’m playing hopscotch. Compared to what I do now, it looks like nothing.

“I can’t believe that was a big deal. It wasn’t shocking at all.”

Erm, it was definitely at least a *little bit* shocking, love.

Still the Hannah Montana star didn’t even see anything provocative about her and Robin’s routine when she watched back the show later that night, adding: “I was in the studio with Kanye West later that night, and we watched it back and we didn’t say anything.

“We woke up the next day, and he was like, ‘Whoa’. He called and said, 'Turn on your TV.'”

Super casual Kanye namedrop there, we <3 it.

Miley also refuted Robin’s claims that he had no idea how raunchy the singer was going to be, with the 22-year-old even insisting that Rob was the one to pick out and approve her sexy outfit.

She explained: “He acted like he didn’t know that was going to happen. You were in rehearsals! You knew exactly what was going to happen.

“And he was actually the one that approved my outfit, so I thought that was very funny.

“He wanted me as naked as possible, because that’s how his video was.”

Needless to say, we can’t wait to see what shenanigans Miley has up her sleeve for this Sunday’s ceremony - and so long as it doesn’t include a much-older man rubbing against her while he sings a controversial song about ‘blurred lines’, we reckon that we’ll be able to stomach it just fine.

Because, no matter what Miley said, that shizz was weird.
