NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - Apr 17, 2014) - Courtney and Karen Lord hosted a personal and intimate brunch for art lovers in their home in Miami Beach. The VIP event was an exclusive opportunity for selected guests to take a closer look at the exhibited art by the talented painter, Marc Dennis. Courtney and Karen provided the perfect background for Dennis' strikingly detailed art: the Lords are not only known as esteemed collectors in the art world, but also for their eclectic architectural taste and exquisite residence in Florida, which has been featured in Elle Décor. The private event, which was organized by Patrick Vega and sponsored by Sotheby's and Nets Jets, turned out to be a huge success. Guests enjoyed the chance to admire Dennis' painting in the gorgeously decorated house while chatting with other art aficionados. By the end of the event, the displayed painting "Allegory of the Art Fair" was sold to a prominent collector based in Miami.

Marc Dennis is known for his hyper-realistic paintings, and his painting of a flower sculpture titled "Uncontrollable Beauty," measuring 60x72 inches, from 2013, is a great example of his photorealistic style. Dennis got the inspiration for this painting when a collector visited him at his studio in Brooklyn. When asked whether he had ever considered making sculptures, Dennis took the challenge and created his idea of a sculpture. He explains: "The idea was to create a sculpture, but instead of making a sculpture -- because I'm not a sculptor -- I made a painting of my idea of a sculpture."

"Uncontrollable Beauty" was part of Dennis' latest exhibition "An Artist, a Curator and a Rabbi Walk Into a Bar..." at Hasted Kraeutler in New York City, which ran from November 8th, 2013 - February 8th 2014. According to Dennis, the title of the exhibition is a meta joke, a joke that goes on and on, opening up an endless narrative, leaving it up the listener -- or in the case of an exhibition, the viewer -- to fill in the blanks. The exhibition showcased artwork within artwork, narrative within narrative, the head or entire body of a viewer in front of a painting, giving the visitors of the exhibition an opportunity to "look at how we observe others, how we engage in art, and how we sanctify it." In the painting "The Measure of All Things," Kanye West, dressed as a security guard, watches over a large painting of a cat. And in February, TIME Magazine featured another painting of Dennis, which was part of the "Los Angeles Cat Art Show," depicting a celebrity, this time Snoop Dogg in a velvet jacket, gazing at a painting of a kitten which, according to curator Susan Michals is "a curious juxtaposition of Snoop Dogg's rough past and the soft innocent-looking creature."

Marc Dennis, represented with Hasted Kraeutler in Manhattan, is a New York-based artist known for his hyper-realistic and slightly voyeuristic paintings of contemporary American culture. He was born in Danvers, Massachusetts, graduated from Tyler School of Art with a BFA and holds an MFA from The University of Texas at Austin. Dennis' works have been included in numerous group and solo exhibitions nationwide including New York City, Washington, D.C., Los Angeles, Chicago, Miami, Houston and Seattle.
