Maisie Williams Picks Up Guinness World Record For Game of Thrones

Forget the Emmys and the Golden Globes - Maisie Williams has picked up a Guinness World Record for ‘Game of Thrones’.

The 18-year-old actress, who plays Arya Stark in the HBO fantasy series, accepted the award on behalf of the show’s cast and crew.

It broke the record for the largest 'simulcast’ – that’s simultaneous broadcast’ – of a television drama ever.

The second episode of last season was broadcast in 173 countries at the same time on April 20.

The record will appear in the 2016 edition of the book, due out on September 10.

Oddly, it’s not the first time that Williams, who’s currently filming scenes for series six of the show in County Antrim, has been in line for an accolade from the folks behind the Guinness Book.

This summer, she was set to break a sky diving record in the hope of raising money for Mencap.

Sadly, the attempt, which would have involved her jumping out of a plane at 15,000 ft as part of the most ever tandem parachute jumps made in 24 hours (a target of 300), was postponed.

She blamed 'good old British weather’ for the aborted effort.
