“MythBusters” duo Grant Imahara and Tory Belleci were among those caught up in the chaos and drama of the Los Angeles International Airport on Friday morning.
“I was in the Virgin lounge upstairs. Saw everyone pour out of the terminal onto the tarmac,” Imahara tweeted as the drama began to unfold. “Then I heard shots fired outside.”
Later, he noted,”There’s an army of law enforcement from various agencies here.”
“Thanks to the @VirginAmerica staff for swiftly securing the area and keeping us safe,” Imahara tweeted after being evacuated from the terminal.
“Holy s***!!! How the hell did guns get passed (sic)?” Belleci asked via his Twitter account, echoing a sentiment that many others are also wondering.
Among the pictures that Belleci shared was a shot of evacuees gathering in the in a secured area.
“It’s filling up inside the secured area,” Belleci wrote. “People are mostly calm now, but very upset.”
According to media reports, a TSA agent was shot during the shooting rampage Friday morning.
According to Discovery Channel and Science Channel, Imahara and Belleci were on their way to Delaware to film “Punkin Chunkin,” and are safe and being rerouted.
“Our thoughts are with all those affected by today’s tragedy and our gratitude goes out to the members of the LAPD, Airport Police, TSA, and Virgin America staff for restoring safety to the scene,” Discovery and Science said in a statement.
