Kelly Clarkson is having a red hot year!
More than a decade after winning the inaugural season of "American Idol" Kelly Clarkson is still on top and getting hotter. Rather than go the way of many of the singing show's winners with a single album with mediocre sales, the original "American Idol" is sitting pretty atop the billboard lists and getting invites to sing for the President of the United States.
Here are some of her biggest moments of the past year:
Stronger: Her fifth studio album was officially released in late 2011, but the singer has been riding high with a string of hits including the title song, "Stronger" and the hit "Mr. Know It All." Since the album's release, Kelly has been busy headlining two major concert tours - her own "Stronger Tour" and co-headlining on the "2012 Summer Tour" with The Fray. She released her first greatest hits album, "Greatest Hits - Chapter One" in November 2012.
Mentoring: She's been busy sharing her wealth of music knowledge! Having gained fame on a singing competition, the singer decided to pass on her unique perspective as a guest mentor on season two of the NBC show, "The Voice" and later as a mentor on the summer reality series, "Duets."
Super Bowl: She may not have snagged the half-time show, but Clarkson got the next best gig. Last February, Kelly showed the world her range when she performed "The Star-Spangled Banner" at Super Bowl XLVI.
Engagement: In the ultimate merging of music, the singer is bringing her rock star vibe to the ultimate country family. In early 2012, she started dating talent manager Brandon Blackstock, who happens to be the stepson of Reba McEntire. Brandon decided pretty quickly to put a ring on it and popped the question on December 14, 2012.
Inauguration: It was a case of small town girl goes to Washington when the singer was invited to perform "My Country, 'Tis of Thee" at President Barack Obama's second inauguration earlier this month. The performance led to the infamous Bill Clinton photo-bombing moment that took the Internet by storm.
