Marine Corporal Kelsey De Santis was one of the soldiers who invited a celebrity to her Marine Corp Ball last year. Her choice of celebrity - Justin Timberlake - obliged and they went together.
Apparently their first "date" went well, because this time he invited De Santis to go with him to the 2012 Spike TV Guy's Choice Awards held over the weekend. The singer and actor earned the Entertainer of the Year award and dedicated it to De Santis and her fellow soldiers.
"It's amazing actually to be standing on stage with these American heroes. As some of you know I'm usually a wisea**, but in all seriousness, I can tell you receiving this award from our troops is seriously one of the greatest honors that I or any American could receive," he said on stage.
De Santis continues to be impressed by Timberlake, telling E! News that "he's a genuine person. There's no doubt in my mind [he deserves this award]."
Will she get an invite to Timberlake's wedding to Jessica Biel? We'll have to wait and see. Think Timberlake's the only person to oblige a fan's request, though? Think again!
Virginia teen Cady Eimer wanted nothing more than to take Justin Bieber to her prom - she even created a website dedicated to it. The 18-year-old singing superstar couldn't go, but instead he took her to the 2012 Billboard Music Awards.
''I couldn't make it [to prom] so I said I need you to fly to the Billboard Awards and you can be my date," he told her.
Eimer had the time of her life, according to a tweet she sent out afterward.
''@justinbieber @scooterbraun @kennyhamilton @allisonkaye thank you so much for an amazing night! I had the time of my life."
Bieber did forget one thing, though.
''I didn't get her a corsage.," he told People. We're sure she didn't care.
Bieber isn't the only celebrity to get invited to prom. Teen Kevin McGuire asked country singer Taylor Swift to his prom, but she also had scheduling conflicts. Instead, she asked him to be her date to the Academy of Country Music Awards in April. He accepted, but the New Jersey teen is battling leukemia and wasn't able to go.
"We appreciate everything you have done for us, and we know you are all hurt from this too. ... Please continue to pray for Kevin and his health, because that is the most important thing," his sister wrote on his Facebook page at the time. "As for Taylor, she is just as depressed as all of us to miss out on this date, and we are so thankful for the opportunity she has given us."
Swift promised to make it up to him, though.
DJ Pauly D
"Jersey Shore" star DJ Pauly D held a contest for one lucky fan to go to the 2011 MTV VMAs with him. Entrants were supposed to tell why they - or the person they nominated - deserved to go.
"Congratulations to the winner (Deanna Gossett). Her friend entered her and I was touched by the story .. Ohhh yeahh!!" Pauly D tweeted in August.
Gossett was thrilled about winning.
"DJ Pauly D, Oh yeah, VMAs!!! Thank you so much!!! I love you!!!" she tweeted.
