On September 13, 2011, "Mad Men" star January Jones gave birth to a healthy baby boy named Xander Dane Jones. Jones' rep told US Weekly, "Both mom and baby are doing great." The star is still mum on the identity of her baby's father, but a source close to Jones told People that she was very much looking forward to being a mom.
Selecting the right name was very important for Jones who did not want to pick out a clichéd name for her baby. Jones noted "I love Cary Grant, I like Marilyn Monroe. That seems kind of like a celebrity thing to do, those weird names. I'm not really into that. I don't want to be too cliché about it."
Jones certainly avoided the cliched route and went with the original name Xander Dane. According to babynames.com the name Xander is Greek for "The Defender of the People", while the name Dane is of Scandanavian roots and has two possible meanings: "Of Denmark" or "God is My Judge."
Jones is not the only celebrity that has given her child a strong name recently. Here is a look at a few other celebrity babies with names that aren't heard very often.
