The Venice Film Festival is well underway in Italy with some of Tinseltown's biggest and brightest stars. The oldest film festival on the books is a showcase for both incredible film and fashion, as exhibited by some of the gorgeous dresses showcased by the Hollywood elite.
Looking for some fashion envy to keep you going through the day? You're in luck.
Veteran pop superstar Madonna is having quite the rollercoaster of a time at the Venice Film Festival. The first-time director is in Italy to promote her new film, "W.E."
The 53-year-old wowed on the red carpet in her red-and-gray custom-made Vionnet gown with red glitter Miu Miu sunglasses and python Vionnet heels. Quite the combo!
Oh, she also rocked a wrinkle-free face. Madge is known for her love of plastic surgery to keep her looking young.
"I see myself as a story teller and don't see it as such a big jump from songwriter to filmmaker because in the end we are all telling stories," the singer-turned-director said of her first foray into film-length storytelling.
"W.E." - based on the controversial love story of American divorcee Wallis Simpson and Britain's King Edward VIII - is getting mixed reviews. The pop singer was also blasted for some comments she made after receiving hydrangeas from a well-wisher.
"I absolutely loathe hydrangeas," she said, thinking the microphone was turned off. Ugh.
German actress Diane Kruger continued her quest to be one of Hollywood's most fashionable with her bejeweled Elie Saab dress, complete with flowing waves.
The 34-year-old actress was attending the premiere for the film, "Unknown." She's definitely not unknown, though.
British actress Keira Knightley has been out of the fold for awhile, but she reemerged at the 2011 Venice Film Festival in a gold Valentino gown with gold embroidered detail. The real star of the ensemble was Knightley's make-up, though: she rocked silver eye shadow and a sleek bun with the dress. Gorgeous!
It's pretty much impossible for Kate Winslet to look frumpy. The curvy British actress showed up at the festival wearing a curve-hugging Stella McCartney dress with Yves Saint Laurent peep-toed pumps.
The actress is flawless, especially because she eschews plastic surgery in favor of graceful aging.
"It goes against my morals, the way that my parents brought me up and what I consider to be natural beauty. I will never give in," Winslet said in August of her distaste for plastic surgery.
We love to hate on Gwyneth Paltrow for her seemingly perfect life and body. She didn't help matters by showing up to the Venice Film Festival in a blush pink Prada gown. The dress stole the attention away from her new film, "Contagion." She reportedly accessorized the dress with "matching Cipria Raso clutch and Vernice peep-toe platforms, plus yellow gold and diamond Bvlgari earrings," according to US Weekly.
What's your favorite look so far at the 2011 Venice Film Festival?
