Drew Barrymore may be Hollywood's ultimate bad girl makes good success story. When the "E.T." child star went down the typical troubled path of sex, drugs and scandal it seemed par for the course. After all, the tabloids have always been rife with the issues of the young, rich and famous. Lindsay Lohan is trying to get over this hump with her upcoming role as Elizabeth Taylor, another child star who faced troubles. Nickelodeon actress Amanda Bynes was also recently charged with a DUI.
Drew has come a long way from flashing David Letterman while strip dancing on his desk. While Kim Kardashian and Paris Hilton flaunt the fact that they are famous for being famous, Drew has built on her rich acting legacy. The actress is a Barrymore, after all. Drew Blyth is no Johnny-come-lately. Her family has deep Old Hollywood roots.
Like most of her peers, Drew has a couple of marriages under her belt. Fellow bad girl Shannen Doherty married twice before her wedded bliss to Kurt Iswarienko. Tori Spelling left her first husband to find happiness with her current hubbie and reality co-star Dean McDermott. Dean was also married when they met.
After a couple of failed engagements Drew was first married to Jeremy Thomas and then Tom Green. The Green marriage was a public spectacle that seemed to cause Drew to close the shades on her private life. The relationship literally went up in flames when the two faced a house fire.
Meanwhile her company Flower Films made huge strides with properties like the popular "Charlie's Angels" franchise and VH1's reality series "Tough Love." Drew is a producer, screenwriter and director in addition to be a thespian. She established herself as a likeable actress in romantic comedies like "The Wedding Singer" and "50 First Dates."
Drew and her current husband Will Kopelman seem built to last. The two married in a secret ceremony and are pregnant with their first child. So what makes this marriage different from the last two? We now see a smarter and more reserved Drew.
At 37 she is more private about her life. This is quite a different woman that played the are we or aren't we game during her marriage to funnyman Tom Green. Kopelman is a 34-year-old art dealer and son of former Chanel CEO Arie Kopelman. He appears to be stable by all accounts.
Congrats, Drew! We wish you every happiness.
So, what do you think? Is this marriage a match made in heaven?
