Barrymore just had to attend the big night for Bulgari, the legendary Italian jeweler, as the company was inducted into the Rodeo Drive Walk of Style on December 5, joining Armani, Versace, Ferragamo, Valentino, Cartier and other fashion luminaries in receiving the coveted award.
"I am lucky enough to be wearing one of their beautiful designs tonight," Barrymore gushed as she presented the company's vice-chairman Nicola Bulgari with the honorary Robert Graham-designed trophy. That hefty piece mimics his massive "Torso" sculpture, the one just outside the Bulgari boutique that greets visitors to the most famous shopping street in the world.
Her necklace glittered with precious stones, setting off her dark hair and black pants suit; meanwhile Kate Walsh giggled about her Bulgari choker, which was a dazzling mélange of rubies and pearls.
"There was a really sweet man sitting in my house as I put this on tonight," Walsh laughed. "He came along with the jewels!"
There was also plenty of security scattered throughout the bash, which was jammed with supermodels and socialites, all dripping in expensive baubles from the House of Bulgari (who all know the way to pronounce that word is "Bull-gah-ree") and sipping champagne. Anne V., the face of "Vogue" covers, "Sports Illustrated" swimsuit editions and the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, palled around with model-heiress Lydia Hearst, while Cat Deeley, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Natalie Zea and Bella Heathcote coveted the glass-encased signature pieces on display.
"Revenge" stars Ashley Madekwe and Christa B. Allen roamed the packed second floor together, while stylists Brad Goreski, George Kotsiopoulos and George Blodwell had a palaver on the massive stairway leading up. It was so crowded, there was no place else to go!
As Nicola Bulgari accepted the award, he reminded everyone of the famous faces who have worn his jewels in films and real life -- Elizabeth Taylor, Grace Kelly, Ingrid Bergman, Sharon Stone, Angelina Jolie, Sophia Loren and more -- and celebrated what he called the "tremendous power of gemstones that began their journeys deep within the earth's surface and ended up gracing the décolletages of the world's most glamorous females."
All lucky women, for these are definitely jewels to die for!
