Donald Trump Ends Miss Universe Lawsuits & Buys Out NBC Stake

Just hours before going on NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the controversial 2016 GOP presidential candidate has made nice with the network. Donald Trump says today he’s settled his legal actions over the pulling of the Miss USA pageant and has bought out NBC’s portion of the Miss Universe Organization. Sources close to the matter confirm to Deadline that this is in fact the case.

The former Celebrity Apprentice host said he would follow his $500 million lawsuit against Univision with one against the Comcast-owned net after both scuttled plans to show this year’s Miss USA ceremony. Both NBC and Univision pulled the plug on the show in late June over inflammatory remarks Trump made early in his campaign about Mexican immigrants. The Miss Universe Organization was a co-venture between Trump and NBC. Despite today’s announcement by Trump, his now $10 million lawsuit against Univision, which was shifted over to federal court on July 10, is still ongoing. However, a September 29 scheduled pre-motion conference could see that changed.

This year’s Miss USA pageant eventually found a home on Reelz, where it was shown on July 12 to its lowest numbers ever.

Maybe that’ll come up on Fallon tonight…
