They didn't win the mirrorball trophy, but did they win each other's hearts? Actor Brant Daugherty and his pro dance partner Peta Murgatroyd squashed romance rumors during last season's "Dancing With the Stars," but they kept the tongues wagging by steaming up the ballroom with sexy moves and a supersize side of flirting.
And now, they've been spotted putting on a mega PDA display, according to Us Weekly. The pretty little pair was reportedly caught making out at a recent event in Hollywood, and Daugherty fueled the fire with an Instagram pic that showed them cozily posing together at the event. "Had so much fun at Trevor Live last night with this lovely lady by my side," he captioned the shot.
The hunky "Pretty Little Liars" star spent much of last season denying that he was in a romantic relationship with his gorgeous "DWTS" pro partner, telling Celebuzz last month: "For the one millionth time, no we are not dating. We are locked in a studio with a camera crew for five hours every single day. It's not a place where something like that can really grow. We are very close though, we're very comfortable around each other."
With the cameras now gone, perhaps they've been able to cultivate a connection. Because the chemistry has always been there. Early in the season, Daugherty told On Air With Ryan Seacrest: "Peta and I definitely have no lack of chemistry. We have a lot of fun around each other and a lot of our dances we are going to be doing are very, very sexy."
If the relationship rumors are true, the couple will join several past "DWTS" pairs who turned dance into a romance.
Season 3 contestant Mario Lopez tangoed on and off camera with partner Karina Smirnoff dating for two years and eventually becoming engaged. They split in 2008, and a rep for Smirnoff told People that "the relationship wasn't heading in the right direction."
In Season 6, multi-mirrorball winner Derek Hough fell for partner Shannon Elizabeth, dating her for over a year before calling it quits.
And in Season 5, pop singer Sabrina Bryan's shocking early elimination didn't signal the end of her time with partner Mark Ballas. The two were an item for several months following their untimely exit, with the former Cheetah Girl explaining to TV Guide: "We've been so focused on the competition. But now that that has died down, we'll see where [a relationship] goes." (It went nowhere.)
Unfortunately for Brant and Peta, the "Dancing With the Stars'" track record for lasting romances is about on par with that of another ABC reality show, "The Bachelor." Still, we'll take a flirty rumba over a final rose any day.
