It's been a few months since Amber Riley was crowned "Dancing With the Stars'" Season 17 mirrorball trophy winner, but the actress hasn't stopped moving. The 27-year old "Glee" star has been involved in several projects -- including reprising her role as Mercedes for the hit Fox musical's iconic 100th episode -- but she's also doing a little spring cleaning … in the middle of winter.
The actress recently posted an Instagram message aimed at her "curvier fans," and it turned out to be a curvy girls' shopping heaven. Riley wrote: "My sister and I are clothes fanatics and since so many of my curvier fans always express that they like my clothes, I thought why not clean out my closet and fill up all of yours! The clothes are affordable and most are never worn!"
Riley later updated that the sale was a sell out and she would restock soon. But according to Wetpaint, this will be more than just a one-time sale. Riley and her sister have launched a bona fide online biz, Rileyland Fashions, which is geared toward plus-size women. The actress dished: "My sister and I thought it would be dope to open an online boutique. So we did! It's all for the curvy ladies like us! Visit us and find a gem or two."
Riley garnered a lot of attention during her time on "Dancing With the Stars" - and it wasn't just due to her skill at the samba. After winning the competition with pro partner Derek Hough, the emotional actress said, "I want to let women of all sizes out there know you can do whatever you put your mind to! It doesn't matter what size, what color you are-you can do whatever, whatever, whatever you put your mind to!"
While she's been vocal about the fact that size doesn't matter, Riley did once dish to People that she was happy that her "DWTS" stint inspired some of her fans to start exercising. She also dropped her own body bombshell: "Being a little smaller does open up your closet to new choices, but it has made my spending a little worse," she said.
Hmmm… so is her shrinking bod the reason why she had so many clothes to sell online? Whatever the reason, Ms.Riley's not the first celeb to clean out her closet for cash.
Back in 2010, Oprah Winfrey famously listed 150 personal items on eBay to benefit her South African Leadership Academy. Sold items included a Carolina Herrera satin dress, a white pantsuit, and a closet full of size 10 shoes.
And Kim Kardashian is also known for selling her duds online via charity auctions. According to Fox News, the reality star has unloaded everything from a $960 Herve Leger dress to the robe she wore when she competed on "Dancing With the Stars."
