Monday night on "Dancing with the Stars:All-Stars," it was the last chance for an iconic dance before this week's double elimination. The nine couples who survive (and it could be anyone's game after the tight judges' scores!) will move on to next week -- and two big changes.
So what dances did the all-stars channel, and who came out on top?
Drew Lachey and Anna Trebunskaya took on the very first "DWTS" dance ever, with Joey McIntyre and Ashly DelGrosso's season 1 cha cha to Beyonce's "Crazy in Love." Lachey, who like all the other all-stars was given creative control of the performance this week, said his goal was to "make the entire number like a concert." They scored a respectable 24 points, although Lachey pointed out that was his week 1 score back in season 3.
Gilles Marini and Peta Murgartoyd recreated Maks Chmerkovskiy and Erin Andrews' season 10 tango to The Eurythmics "Sweet Dreams." Marini, who flew across the stage on a harness, seem irritated that some couples were doing dances that were originally done by their all-star competitors, and said "out of respect" he was doing a dance by someone who's not on the show this season. Bruno Tonioli called the sexy dance "50 Shades of Gilles." Score: 25.5
It was a tense week for Bristol Palin and her partner Mark Ballas. Before they recreated Derek Hough and Joanna Krupa's season 9 futuristic paso doble, they had a major backstage bawl-out, with Bristol accusing Mark of wishing Sabrina Bryan or Shawn Johnson was his partner. "I feel like you want to go home," Bristol cried, citing Ballas's apparent rehearsal no-show. But the quarreling couple patched things up and scored 22.5 points in the process. Judge Carrie Ann Inaba told Palin: "I think you are proving to be a worthy competitor."
Apolo Ohno is all grown up, and Karina Smirnoff wants us to know! For their dance, this sizzling couple took on Gilles Marini and Cheryl Burke's season 8 "Fever" foxtrot. Ohno said, "I'm trying to channel my inner sexy" (minus the man boobs!), and who better to emulate than Marini? Score: 25.5 points
Shawn Johnson and Derek Hough closed out the show and scored big with a gymnastic-infused quickstep that was adapted from Hélio Castroneves and Julianne Hough's season 5 dance to "Hey Pachuco." The judges dubbed it the best dance in 15 seasons of "Dancing With the Stars," despite some rule breaking. Score: 26.5
The other scores of the night:
Melissa Rycroft and Tony Dovolani: 27 points (J.R. Martinez and Karina Smirnoff's season 13 "Conga" samba)
Sabrina Bryan and Louis Van Amstel: 25.5 points ( Mel B & Maks' season 5 "Free Your Mind" paso doble)
Helio Castroneves and Chelsie Hightower: 25.5 points (Apolo Ohno and Julianne Hough's season 4 "Mr. Pinstripe Suit" quickstep)
Kelly Monaco and Val Chmerkovskiy: 27 points (Laila Ali and Maks' season 4 paso doble to "Espana Cani.")
Next week: The all-stars will have to step it up another notch, when famed choreographer Paula Abdul joins the panel as a guest judge. And the all-stars will be given yet another challenge: Next week they choose dance styles for each other. Polka, anyone?
The "Dancing With the Stars" results show airs Tuesday night at 8/7c on ABC.
