Colbert's first 'Late Show' promos feature Mitt Romney, puppies

CBS aired the first official promos for "The Late Show With Stephen Colbert" on Sunday, offering a brief glimpse of what the former Comedy Central star and faux conservative talk-show host has planned for his late-night network television debut.

Colbert promises “fascinating conversations” with celebrities, athletes, musicians and politicians, including former presidential candidate Mitt Romney, who appears in one of the promos.

“Wow, you do a great Mitt Romney,” Colbert says.

“I am Mitt Romney,” the 2012 Republican presidential nominee replies.

“That’s it,” Colbert jokes. “Stay in character.”

In another, the comedian shows off his Charlie Rose trapper keeper in back to school style.

The new Colbert promos come just days before the end of Jon Stewart's nine-year run as host of “The Daily Show.”

Colbert, who left “The Colbert Report” late last year, takes over “The Late Show” on Sept. 8. But he's been releasing a steady diet of teasers on his personal Twitter feed, where Colbert has been having “lunch” with his 8.5 million followers.

But those who already miss Colbert’s political satire, fret not. Seems he’ll be covering at least one 2016 presidential candidate.

Earlier this summer, Colbert appeared on Jerry Seinfeld's “Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee.”

“I was ready to stop,” Colbert told Seinfeld. “I was gonna stop whether or not ... the Letterman thing fell on my lap.”
