Clint Eastwood made people's day at the Republican National Convention last week when he appeared on stage with an empty wooden chair and pretended to have a conversation with an invisible President Barack Obama.
The novel shtick surprised convention goers and TV viewers accustomed to watching featured speakers stand on stage without imaginary people or furniture props. Almost instantly, the term "Eastwooding" emerged as a new word in the English language meaning to talk to an empty chair as if it contained a person.
Though Eastwood's behavior was considered bizarre by some, celebrities have a history of making headlines with furniture.
Tom Cruise Jumps on Oprah's Couch
Just a month after meeting Katie Holmes, Tom Cruise was allegedly so head over heels in love with his future wife that he jumped up and down on Oprah Winfrey's couch while conversing with the chat queen. Though she kept shaking her head and saying "the boy is gone," Oprah gave Cruise the benefit of the doubt that his bizarre behavior was caused by lack of sleep.
Khloe Kardashian Breaks Her Sex Swing
In just another spontaneous Kardashian stunt, Khloe Kardashian decided her sex life needed spicing up and installed a sex swing in her bedroom. When the big day comes to try it out, Khloe and Lamar are captured on video piloting their new sex toy, only to be foiled when the swing falls out of the ceiling and the two plop onto the bed. A giggling Khloe surmised, "I guess I didn't install it right."
Kelly Osbourne Falls Out of Bed
Less explicable is Kelly Osbourne falling out of her own bed while sleeping and breaking her left hand. The "Fashion Police" star offered no reason for the mishap other than she is "the most accident prone/stupid person in the world."
Sean Combs Had a Stranger in His Bed
In a modern day version of Goldilocks, the singer formerly known as P. Diddy arrived at his house in the Hamptons and found a homeless man sleeping in his bed. According to reports, the intruder had made himself at home by wearing the rapper's clothes, eating his food and swimming in his pool.
Eva Longoria Dances on a Table
The not-so-desperate housewife disappointed fans when she got on top of a table at a Las Vegas charity event with comedian George Lopez and stiffly moved her body in what may have been the lamest table top dance in Vegas history.
Unlike Eastwood, however, Longoria had a visible dance partner.
