Christina Ricci recently took part in an interview for Marie Claire UK and told the magazine that her younger years were like a hurricane where she caused destruction for herself and others. She also said it look a lot to learn how to live in the spotlight and only recently felt comfortable with who she is.
Ricci is one of many stars that suffered a tumultuous start to their career and had to work through numerous problems before coming out successfully on the other side.
Robert Downey Jr.
While he is one of the world's biggest movie stars right now, Robert Downey Jr. was, at one time, one of the most troubled movie stars on the planet. From 1996 through 2001, the future "Iron Man" star was arrested several times, making numerous rehab trips before finally getting his life under control. Luckily, starting in 2001, he found a number of filmmakers, including Shane Black, George Clooney and David Fincher, who gave him another chance and he has remained clean and sober ever since.
Drew Barrymore got a very early start to her career, starring in movies like "E.T." and "Firestarter" as a young girl. However, the early celebrity aided her in becoming rebellious and she began abusing drugs at the age of 12, leading to a rehab stint, followed by a suicide attempt. After a few years of coming to grips with her situation, she re-entered Hollywood and has since transformed into one of Hollywood's most encouraging success stories.
The story of Corey Feldman is one filled with hope but also remains interconnected with another story that ended in tragedy. When they were kids, Feldman and his best friend Corey Haim appeared in numerous movies together, idols to millions. However, both began to get involved in drug abuse and only Feldman made it out of the addictions alive. Haim died in 2010, a sad end to a tragic life, but that also shines a light on the Corey that survived.
While her story is one that has yet to be finished, there has been no more spectacular train wreck than that of Britney Spears. She started her life as a teen idol to millions, a top-charting pop singer beloved by all. However, the fame, as well as a destructive home life, got the better of Spears and her off-stage antics almost overshadowed anything she accomplished in her career. Now, at the age of 30, the singer appears to have her life and career back under control.
