It looks as though old things do become new again. Television seems to be following fashion's passion for retro elements, as its been announced that an updated version of "Charlie's Angels" will be airing on ABC, the network that hosted the original series. The first "Charlie's Angels," which aired from 1976 to 1981, starred Farrah Fawcett, Kate Jackson and Jaclyn Smith and featured numerous guest stars, so the new version will have big shoes to fill. While some big names were rumored to be in consideration for the new "Charlie's Angels," the new angels aren't tremendously huge stars (no offense intended): Rachel Taylor, Minka Kelly and Annie Ilonzeh.
Like most TV fans, you may be considering not only how these three will do in their angelic roles, but also who could possibly do just as good, or better in the role. If the new "Charlie's Angels" is to be anything like the old, the stars will have to know how to kick butt, but will look good doing it. Here are some actresses who could have made memorable appearances as angels. If you're feeling nostalgic, watch episodes of "Charlie's Angels" online right here and find the films and DVDs here .
Lucy Liu: This is cheating a bit, as we already know that Lucy Liu would make a good angel - she played one in two films, "Charlie's Angels" and "Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle," released in 2000 and 2003, respectively. Liu has had plenty of roles in butt-kicking movies, including "Kill Bill," "Lucky Number Slevin," and "Rise: Blood Hunter," so it's clear that she does well in action roles. And of course, her previous role as an angel doesn't hurt, either.
Angelina Jolie: While Jolie spends most of her time in movies, there's nothing to suggest that she couldn't also excel on the small screen. Jolie has appeared in plenty of films that suggest a potential penchant for a "Charlie's Angels" role, including her run as, Lara Croft, the titular role of "Tomb Raider". Other angel-esque appearances include her roles in "Salt," "The Tourist" and even some voice-acting in "Kung Fu Panda".
Mila Kunis: Fresh off her haunting role in "Black Swan," Kunis has stepped up her butt-kicking credentials, which also include roles in "Max Payne" and "The Book of Eli". Oddly enough, Kunis also portrayed the younger version of Angelina Jolie's character in "Gia" (Jolie portrayed the title character). Like the two actresses above Kunis, she has been named to several "most attractive" lists, which doesn't really hurt when you're dealing with a franchise such as "Charlie's Angels."
