On June 8, Zappos.com teamed up with TV personality Melissa Rivers. She released a new line of clothing in the company's private label brand, The Cool People. The two first came together in 2009 when Rivers appeared on "The Celebrity Apprentice." She and her team competed in a task to create a comic book and character to promote the online apparel company. Although her mother Joan went on to win the reality show, Melissa wound up with a new partnership in the end.
Melissa Rivers Is the First Celebrity Partnership for Zappos.com
This collaboration is the first time Rivers has launched an apparel line and the first time Zappos has partnered with a celebrity brand. All of the pieces in the Rivers' collection sell for under $100 and are suitable for the busy woman, easily shifting from day to night. In a recent exclusive interview Rivers stated, "You get a lot of style and quality at great prices."
Michelle Thomas, Sr. Marketing Manager for Zappos.com, welcomed Rivers into The Cool People family in a recent press release, "Zappos is thrilled to partner with Melissa Rivers, as we think her achievable and relatable style is exactly what appeals to our consumer."
Melissa Rivers Collection Is Classic with a Twist
The clothes in the collection feature classic silhouettes with a modern twist from cutting edge prints to vibrant colors. The wide array of items includes floral lace tops, high waisted flared shorts and chic, color blocked dresses.
The fashionista, who is executive producer of "The Fashion Police" on E! and who cultivated her for style on countless Hollywood red carpets, hand picked each item in the collection. Rivers commented about the line, noting, "I wanted to offer items that are versatile and able to go from day to night and most importantly at a price point that is accessible."
Some of the stand out pieces include a green, black and blue color blocked sheath dress. This sleeveless piece can be dressed up or down for daytime or evening looks. The black lace sweater with half-length sleeves and a fringed hem is perfect with a pair of jeans or a slim skirt.
A Portion of Sales Goes to The WaterKeeper Alliance
And true to "The Celebrity Apprentice" spirit, a portion of the proceeds from the sales from the clothing line goes to a charity - The WaterKeeper Alliance. The organization provides resources for communities, locally and globally, to stand up for their right to clean water. Rivers said, "The Waterkeeper Alliance is a fantastic organization to me because protecting water, our most precious natural resource, is of the utmost importance to our future. Clean water is a fundamental right that all human beings should have."
