"Good Morning America" co-host Robin Roberts has had her fair share of health scares over the years. First she beat breast cancer; now she's fighting a rare blood disorder. Roberts announced on "GMA" Monday morning that she has been diagnosed with myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS), a blood disorder that affects the bone marrow.
The popular host added that she found out about the illness in April - right before she interviewed President Obama about his views on same-sex marriage. Roberts added that she's not leaving the show - except for when she undergoes a bone marrow transplant later this summer.
Naturally, Roberts' fans were shocked by her announcement. Several of her celeb pals took to Twitter to wish her well in the face of her new fight.
"Sending nothing but love and well wishes to my pal Robin Roberts as she fights the good fight. She WILL prevail!!" the singer tweeted on Monday night.
"I am rooting for YOU @robinroberts all the way! You are STRONG and will BEAT THIS. Love, Marlee," the Oscar-winning actress tweeted.
"Wishing my friend @RobinRoberts strength and courage for the days ahead. We're pulling for you. #LIVESTRONG," fellow cancer survivor and cyclist Lance Armstrong wrote.
"We all love you & are cheering you on!!" Fellow ABC newsie Katie Couric wrote.
"I wish my friend @RobinRoberts the strength, faith & love she will need on this new journey. I send all that and more," Shriver wrote.
"@Robinroberts sending you nothing but love &strength. You are the epitome of grace & as you told us all this a.m. YOU WILL BEAT THIS," Gayle King wrote to Roberts.
"Please everyone send their thoughts, prayers & love to @RobinRoberts. Robin, your strength & courage is inspiring & will be life saving for not only you, but many, many others.
