Is the feud really over between Madonna and Lady Gaga? Madonna, the queen of passive aggression, recently referenced Gaga to a crowd of fans, saying, "I love her. I do love her. Imitation is the highest form of flattery." Was the elder singer really trying to pay a compliment, or was she taking a dig at the "Born This Way" singer? This feud is most likely not going anywhere, as Ms. Ciccone has a well deserved reputation for exchanging verbal blows with other celebs.
In January 2012, the singer took a jab at Janet Jackson during her appearance on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno." When asked to describe her upcoming Super Bowl XLVI performance, the singer made a reference to Jackson's infamous "wardrobe malfunction" by saying her own performance would entail "no nipples." In another interview, Madge said, "You don't have to show nipples to be interesting… it doesn't necessarily mean you're cutting edge if you do."
Former BFFs Sandra Bernhard and Madonna had a rift between them as well. In her 1993 book, "Love, Love and Love", Bernhard explained that the pop star was deeply offended on behalf of her daughter Lourdes after attending one of Bernhard's shows. There aren't any reports that they ever mended their friendship.
To an outsider, the blonde songstress and Angelina Jolie seem to have a lot in common. They are both very edgy celebrities, known for their past, attention-grabbing antics. Later in life, they both adopted children from disadvantaged countries. But instead of bonding, the pair became enemies when the "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" star slammed Madge's adoption, saying "Madonna knew the situation in Malawi, where (David) was born. It's a country where there is no real legal framework for adoption. Personally, I prefer to stay on the right side of the law. I would never take a child away from a place where adoption is illegal."
In 1995, Madonna and Mariah Carey clashed when the "Give Me All Your Luvin" singer called Mrs. Cannon "too mainstream," saying "If I were Mariah Carey, I'd kill myself." Carey retorted, "I really haven't paid attention to Madonna since I was in the 7th or 8th grade...and she USED to be popular!" In 2006, there was an issue over which diva would open that year's Grammy Awards.
The songbird and Piers Morgan have had an ongoing feud for quite some time. The "Piers Morgan Tonight" host has numerous negative comments about the singer, including "She was gruesome. I don't like the woman, and she doesn't like me", "she's a complete con artist and those arms are just terrifying," and that she is like a "mad drunken aunt at Christmas."
In early 2012, Deadmau5 lashed out at the pop legend for her use of the term "Molly" at a Miami concert. Molly is a slang term for MDMA, the active chemical in ecstasy. The producer later tweeted, "It's a slap in the face, associating a potentially harmful substance to the work and passion we put in to make art… are you so uncreative after a 30-year career you have to resort to drug references?"
The material girl has also been involved in famous feuds with Kate Hudson, Gwen Stefani, Anderson Cooper, Cyndi Lauper, Whitney Houston, Gwyneth Paltrow, Courtney Love, Gene Simmons, Jennifer Lopez, Debbie Harry, and her most famous feud of all, Elton John.
