Benedict Cumberbatch And Sophie Hunter Named Their Son Christopher Carlton?

Well, it might have taken almost three months, but we finally have reports on what Benedict Cumberbatch and his gorge wife, Sophie Hunter, named their baby son.

BETTER LATE THAN NEVER, EH?

Cumberbatch Junior was born on June 1st this year, and the Daily Mail report that he has been named Christopher Carlton - which makes us think that Ben and Soph are fans of a bit of alliteration.

According to the paper, the Sherlock actor chose ‘Carlton’ because it runs in the family, with both himself and his dad, Timothy, sharing the name.

The reasoning behind Chrisopher is currently unknown, other than the fact it’s a pretty adorbs name, but Benedict did previously portray a character with the same name in the BBC TV adaptation of Parade’s End.

Coincidence? Or did he just really bond with that character?

Erm… It’s probably a coincidence if we’re being honest.

The new parents have been incredibly private since they welcomed their son back in June, with a spokesman for the couple saying at the time: “Benedict Cumberbatch and Sophie Hunter are delighted to announce the arrival of their beautiful son.

“We would kindly ask everyone to respect the family’s privacy during these next few precious weeks.”

Around the same time, 39-year-old Benedict was named a CBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List for services to the performing arts and charity - not too shabby, eh?

Benedict is currently staying close to home for his work, starring in Hamlet at London’s Barbican Theatre, and as much as we might hope for a photo of little Christopher soon, we have a feeling that we will be waiting for a very long time.

Still, we’re willing to bet that he is an absolute cutie.
