Ben Affleck And Jennifer Garner Go On ‘Family Holiday In The Bahamas’ As Their Divorce Is Announced

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner have taken their children away on a family holiday to the Bahamas, presumably to escape all the drama, headlines and the dreaded rumour mill surrounding their split.

The couple announced their divorce earlier this week, saying in a statement: “After much thought and careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to divorce.

“We go forward with love and friendship for one another and a commitment to co-parenting our children whose privacy we ask to be respected during this difficult time.

“This will be our only comment on this private, family matter. Thank you for understanding.”

While we took an entire day (or two) to bawl our eyes out and make some sort of attempt to get over the separation of our ultimate OTP, the couple themselves have taken the decision to distance themselves from it all.

E! News confirmed that the couple are putting on a united front for the trip, which the site suggests they had planned all along, so that they could be in a private area with their children, away from the spotlight.

A source told Us Weekly: “They got the kids out of L.A. as soon as school was out.

“[The Bahamas] is a place they’ve been going to for years that’s very private and special for their kids. When either of them have had work commitments they have been leaving to go fulfill them.“

This latest news comes after an insider told People magazine that the 42-year-old actor was, unsurprisingly, “devastated” about his split from 43-year-old Jennifer.

The source dished: “Nobody intends to go down this path. They both battled, and he’s really battled to try and save the marriage, but ultimately it was the best thing for the kids and for him and Jen.

“These are two people who really tried to save their marriage and worked really hard at it. Ultimately they had grown apart and they did what was best for their kids.”

Reports also claim he is literally planning on staying within the grounds of the family home in a newly built apartment.

This is obviously a massively tough time for the family, but we hope their Bahamas break is helping them cope with it all.
