Horrible news for "Twilight" star Ashley Greene: Her Hollywood condo went up in flames on Friday. Even worse? The blaze killed one of her dogs and injured the other, according to reports.
The fire - believe to be caused by a candle, according to TMZ - happened while Greene and her boyfriend slept inside. Luckily they got out, but it doesn't make losing her beloved dog any easier.
And why would it? Celebs love their pets like we love ours. Sadly, sometimes things happen - and Greene isn't the only celeb who has recently lost a pet.
Denise Richards might have three daughters, but that didn't make losing her dog any easier. The actress tweeted about losing her dog Frank in January.
"Last night we lost our beloved Hank … I will miss him dearly, 13 yrs old … been there for me thru it all Best dog ever & part of our family," she wrote on Instagram at the time.
At least she has other four-legged pals to keep her company. Richards is really into animal rescue work and always has a bunch of animals at her house.
"The number varies, because I'm often fostering," she said. "Let's just say: I built a dog room at my house."
Kanye West gave Kim Kardashian a beautiful white cat last year, but even famous kitties don't always make it. The cat, Mercy, passed away in December.
"There was nothing we could do for her. Poor little Mercy died the very next day," Kardashian wrote of the tiny kitten, adding that she died of a type of stomach cancer. "Mercy was a gentle and loving kitten and we are all going to miss her so much."
However, Mercy wasn't in Kardashian's care when she died. The reality star is allergic to cats and gave her away to a friend.
"Thanks to Sydney for making Mercy's short life one filled with love," she added.
It seems like Miley Cyrus adopts a new dog every week, but sometimes even her best intentions have bad consequences: Her English bulldog, Ziggy, fatally attacked her Yorkshire Terrier, Lily, in December.
"Can't think of one good reason to get out of bed today," Cyrus tweeted after the tragic death. "For everyone asking... I have never been so hurt in my life. My heart has never been so broken..... Lila my sweet baby girl has passed away."
Cyrus and her mom, Tish Cyrus, eventually gave Ziggy up for adoption so it wouldn't happen again.
