Can Alec Baldwin laugh away his latest jam? After making headlines last week for directing a gay slur at a paparazzo in New York City, the 30 Rock alum evidently tried to ease tensions by jokingly professing his love for another man in front of an audience at a San Francisco tech conference on Wednesday, Nov. 20.
"I want you to be my lover, Matt," the Associated Press quotes Baldwin as saying to a member of his entourage. "I love you, Matt. I love you in that way."
Once the crowd's laughter had subsided, the Emmy-winning actor, 55, reportedly added that he has loved some men more than women in his life, though not in a "sexual" way. Per the AP, he also said he hopes his 3-month-old daughter, Carmen -- with wife Hilaria Baldwin -- learns to control her temper better than he has.
Baldwin's remarks come just a week after the release of a video showing the star allegedly using the phrase "c--ksucking f-g." (He later claimed via Twitter that the second word he said was "fathead," not "f-g.") As a result of the controversy, MSNBC suspended his talk show, Up Late With Alec Baldwin.
"I would like to address the comments I made this past week," the actor wrote in a statement on his show's website on Friday, Nov. 15. "I did not intend to hurt or offend anyone with my choice of words, but clearly I have -- and for that I am deeply sorry."
"Words are important. I understand that, and will choose mine with great care going forward," he added. "What I said and did this week, as I was trying to protect my family, was offensive and unacceptable. Behavior like this undermines hard-fought rights that I vigorously support. I understand 'Up Late' will be taken off the schedule for tonight and next week."
"I want to apologize to my loyal fans and to my colleagues at MSNBC -- both for my actions and for distracting from their good work," he continued. "Again, please accept my apology."
