Shayne Lamas, the 28-year-old daughter of actor Lorenzo Lamas who became a reality star when she won the heart of the British "Bachelor" in 2008, has suffered a miscarriage and remains hospitalized.
Just last month, Lamas and her husband of almost four years, Nik Richie — she split with her "Bachelor" beau, Matt Grant, shortly after the season aired — were excited to be expecting their second child, with Lamas about 12 weeks along. The couple already has a daughter, Press Dahl Lamas-Richie, born in November 2011.
On Sunday, however, things took an unexpected turn when Shayne collapsed and was taken to the hospital. Although initial reports claimed that Lamas was in a coma, that was not the case, according to a statement Lorenzo gave Yahoo. "We are so grateful that my daughter, Shayne Lamas-Richie, is conscious and stable," the former "Falcon Crest" actor said. "She is not in a coma, however she did miscarry the child she was carrying. We are so very grateful to the hospital personnel and the doctors who saved her life last night. Shayne is aware of her condition and that her family and her husband are here with her and love her so much. She will be remaining in the hospital until her doctors determine that she can be released."
Richie, who blogs at his website TheDirty.com, also posted a message for readers on Monday. "I'm going to take some personal days off from the blogging world," he wrote. "Unfortunate things happen to good people. I'm not the best person in the world, but I love my wife and my family. Shayne is my good person. She is my support and my smile. I found you and I never want to let you go. We will overcome. Us 3.- nik"
