Mila on Ashton: 'All of a Sudden, It Wasn't the Same'

From the outside, Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher's transition from friendship into romance looked seamless. And it sounds like it really was!

"One day, it just changed," Kunis tells Marie Claire in a new interview. "All of a sudden, it wasn't the same. And I was really proud of myself for acknowledging that. The best day of my life so far was the proposal. I cried. I was a mess. Not to discredit any relationships in my past, but this relationship is different."

The former That '70s Show co-stars, who shared her first kiss back in 1998 while playing a couple, were friends for more than a decade before they began dating off-screen in 2012. By the following February, they were engaged, and Kunis confirmed last month that she's expecting their first child.

Still, Kunis, 30, and Kutcher, 36, have kept most of the details about their relationship under wraps. Kutcher explained back in March 2013 that he's learned his lesson from his very public marriage and divorce from actress Demi Moore. "I've learned that there are a lot of things in your life that really benefit from being private," he told Elle. "And relationships are one of them. I am going to do everything in my power to have this relationship be private."

Kunis has been only slightly more forthcoming, having once joked to Italian magazine Io Donna that, "You can ask me anything about Ashton; I won't answer. But I can tell you, love is great, love is wonderful, and it's all around us. See? I just gave you an awesome quote!'"

But photos of their frequent PDA and vacations together say plenty about their relationship. Kunis, who dated Macaulay Caulkin for eight years until 2010, looks quite content. Kutcher gets much of the credit, but the Ted actress also attributes her happiness as of late to an attitude adjustment.

"I was really good at saying no," she explains in Marie Claire. "I decided I was just going to say yes to any opportunity that came, no matter how crazy. And it changed my life."

(Still, let's not get too crazy with that rule. Kunis insists that there's at least one offer she would refuse: "I'll never have a clothing line. I promise you, that will never happen.")

Mila Kunis Is a Whiskey Girl

Not surprisingly, neither Kunis nor Kutcher have revealed details about the bundle of joy they're expecting. Well, except for the fact that Kunis has craved sauerkraut and pickles throughout her pregnancy!

The Black Swan star is very open, however, about what she doesn't want for her offspring.

"I just don't want my kids to be a--holes," Kunis says. "I feel like so many kids nowadays are. Both of us just want to have well-behaved, honest, nice children who people meet and say, 'That's a good kid.'"

That's all anyone can ask.
