The 19-year-old from boy band-of-the-moment One Direction evoked death threats from jealous fans when he and his on-again, off-again girlfriend Danielle Peazer posted pics of the new addition to their family on Twitter.
Although most of the comments from Payne's followers were positive — how could anyone see the Siberian Husky and not say "aww"? — a few Directioners were clearly upset by the development. They could obviously tell how passionate Payne is about pro dancer Peazer and their new furry guy, named Loki, by the way that Peazer introduced Loki on her Twitter account. She called him the "new love of mine and @Real_Liam_Payne's life."
That was enough to prompt a few envious fans to threaten the pet and use a seriously sick hashtag, #dieloki.
"I hate that moment when I'm really excited to read his tweet but instead I saw that dog aghhh #dieloki," one follower wrote. Another suggested, "Let's kill him!"
But the death threats soon caused an avalanche of tweets from people disturbed by the backlash against a defenseless animal. @MissChloeBNo1 wrote: "I love one direction and I love Loki why is people hating over a dog,why be that jealous Loki doesn't deserve the hate stop it #dieloki."
With all that Twitter activity about Loki, it's not surprising that the canine now has his own account. Although it's not clear who started it, @LokiPayzerOffic had more than 13,500 followers as of Wednesday afternoon.
