Corey Feldman became a household name in the '80s with roles in hit films like "Stand by Me" and "The Goonies." But in his new memoir, "Coreyography," he speaks candidly about his troubled youth. Within the first 10 pages, Feldman reveals that he thinks "the No. 1 problem in Hollywood was, and is, and always will be pedophilia." "omg! Insider" special correspondent Nicole Lapin sat down with the former child star who talked openly about being sexually abused at age 11.
"I was molested and I said 'yes' — I allowed it to happen — I take full blame, full responsibility for that — but I was a child," Feldman said. "I was a kid — he was an older guy. He worked for my dad. He would take me out on adventures … he was a way out, he was a way for me to get free."
But the friendship between Feldman and his father's employee took a dark turn. Feldman admitted, "All of a sudden one day this happens and the next morning you want to wake up and pretend like it didn't happen — and that's what I did — I woke up the next morning and I looked in his eyes to see if he was going to say anything and he didn't say anything and I'm like 'Phew! Dodged a bullet!' If he's not going to say anything I'm not either. Maybe it was just a dream and it didn't really happen. And I justified that."
Feldman struggled with addiction, and he says that it was the same man that molested him, that introduced him to drugs. The actor revealed, "He introduced me to cocaine, crack, heroin — all of it. And after I found myself a heroin addict and after years of struggling to get sober, right before I got sober that's when I hit rock bottom."
It was during this time that Corey says he contemplated suicide. "I had many futile attempts at trying to kill myself," he said. "I kept a gun under my bed and it was my grandfather's gun. I stole it from his dresser drawer and I kept it loaded, because he had a box of bullets. I loaded it. I put the bullets in. Pointed it at my head. And I gave it everything I could. Everything I could to try and squeeze that trigger. I just couldn't bring myself to do it."
