Award season is around the corner, and a few A-list actors and actresses are receiving quite a bit of buzz for their work. But, if you can believe it, a few of them nearly passed up the opportunity to win a coveted award.
Jared Leto's role as a transgender woman in "Dallas Buyers Club" is scoring him some major attention. But according to the Hollywood Reporter, the 30 Seconds to Mars singer almost didn't take the role because his last movie, 2009's "Mr. Nobody" was a heartbreaking experience for him, and he wanted to just focus on his music.
His co-star Matthew McConaughey dropped an astonishing 50 pounds for his role in the film as real-life cowboy-turned-AIDS-activist Ron Woodroof. But it turns out the part almost went to someone else! Before signing on, Brad Pitt's and Woody Harrelson's names were both attached to the project, as was Ryan Gosling's, who was set to take the part until the film ran into financial issues.
"Gravity" star Sandra Bullock is gaining academy accolades for her work in the sci-fi thriller, but shockingly, she nearly didn't get the part for the film. According to Variety, the role of Ryan Stone almost went to Angelina Jolie. But Brad Pitt's better half passed on the role when a deal couldn't be worked out. Angie wound up forfeiting the role in summer 2010, and it's clear now that her loss was the Oscar winning actress's gain.
Check out this video to see which of Sandra's "Gravity" co-stars could have been Robert Downey Jr., and for more of the latest in entertainment news, be sure to tune in to "omg! Insider" on television tonight!
